The painter and etcher André Goezu lives and works in Paris since more than forty years but he has always maintained his physical and intellectual contacts with Antwerp and Belgium.

His whole body of work is defined by a most typical Flemish shimmer combined with an exemplary French elegance. His prodigious sense for composition and colour opens for us the gates of an oneiric world totally bathed in pure poetry.

André Goezu’s constant research is based on a thorough knowledge of the pictorial Past and its symbolisms. His very personal symbols (trees, horses, dogs, human faces and bodies, etc.) are systematically juxtaposed so as to create an artistic environment of which Goezu may seem to keep the keys for himself, but in which the beholder can penetrate if he/she is willing to open his/her own doors of perception.
